QLD, SA and WA
The Northern and Western states are practicing social distancing and we also have strict hand hygiene in place. The threat of COVID-19 is not over in these parts of Australia. However, freedom of movement has been reinstated in these areas and our services are operating in a state of COVIDsafe normal. Amongst other things, we can use our playgrounds, play team sports and the serving of fresh fruit and vegetables is back! Families are asked to adhere to the COVIDsafe guidelines designed for their individual service.
The NSW Premier has stated NSW is on high alert after the consistent simmering of a low number of cases of COVID-19 in the community. Our COVIDsafe practices are in place across NSW, including social distancing and exemplary hand hygiene practices. Normal team sports are occurring outside but playgrounds are not being used and social distancing indoor games are being embraced. The library and dress ups have been removed and our COVIDsafe menu is in place. Services are regularly cleaned and disinfected throughout each session.
Victoria has been hit by a significant second wave of COVID-19. Stage 4 restrictions and a State of Disaster are in place in the Melbourne Metropolitan area. In regional Victoria, Stage 3 restrictions are in place.
The operation of our service under Stage 3 restrictions is the same as the first Stage 3 lockdown. Social distancing between adults and children is adhered to at all times, playgrounds are not being used, socially distant games are being created and embraced by our children and our COVIDsafe menu is in place. We are caring for less children due to the Stage 3 restrictions. Services are regularly cleaned and disinfected throughout each session.
Greater Melbourne Metropolitan Area
The operation of our service under the conditions of the State of Disaster called for Greater Melbourne in Stage 4 are the most stringent yet. We are accepting employer issued State Government Permits for those who need to work out of the home or in the home who require child care. Enormous penalties apply for individuals, their employers and also providers of child care, if any permit is found to be fraudulent or is used inappropriately. Extend will conduct validity checks of the permits submitted to us. Safety in our services is always our number one priority. Of course while there is so much community transmission, hygiene safety is a strong focus. Social distancing and hand hygiene are diligently adhered to, cleaning and disinfecting practices are undertaken frequently, educators are wearing masks during preparation time and many may be wearing a mask during delivery of the service.

We ask at this time that all Victorians contribute to stopping the spread by limiting movement outside the home and minimising the use of our services as much as possible at this time. We do look forward to welcoming everyone back to our new ‘COVID normal’ as we have done in QLD, WA and SA. First, we must contain the spread of this virus and save lives.
